Vishwanath Singh

Vishwanath Singh belonged to Chhathar village, which is under the jurisdiction of Amarpur police station in Munger district of Bihar, India. His father’s name was Pancham Singh.

He actively participated in the Civil Disobedience movement of 1930. On 15 February 1932, which was declared as Jhanda Satyagrah Diwas by the local Congress Committee, he was part of a 4000-strong crowd that had gathered around Tarapur Police Station with the intention of hoisting the Congress Flag.

The police ordered the assembly to disperse, but when it refused, the police opened fire indiscriminately. Vishwanath Singh sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
