Waris Ali

Waris Ali, who was posted as a Police Jamadar in Tirhut, Bihar, India, participated in the Uprising of 1857. He secretly corresponded with other rebels, planning to overthrow the alien rule. It is said that he was related to the royal family in Delhi, and the Magistrate of Tirhut suspected him of being a rebel spy for some time. In June 1857, he was arrested on the charge of writing seditious letters. He was tried and eventually hanged in Patna on 7th July 1857.
